Pavithra says railways will be a profitable institution by 2023

Minister of Transport Pavithra Wanniarachchi stated that the aim of the present government is to make the Railway Department a profitable institution by maintaining it as a public service.

 

She said that by the year 2023, the sick railway department will be transformed into an attractive and profitable institution.

 

The Ministry of Transport has focused on a number of key areas in formulating plans to increase these revenue levels, such as encouraging more people to use trains by providing an efficient and attractive service, increasing freight rates by 60%, and increasing current revenue from commercial value.
