Opposition to the appointment of Ranil and Rathana Thero as MPs

General Secretary of Vinivida Peramuna, Nagananda Kodithuwakku has filed a fundamental rights petition in the Supreme Court seeking the annulment of the recent parliamentary seats given to our People's Power member Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thera and UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe.

 

Former Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya, former UN Secretary General Akila Viraj Kariyawasam and several others have been named as respondents.

 

Mr. Kodithuwakku further stated that the two members of parliament should be canceled and that these appointments have violated the fundamental rights of citizens.
