Minor tremors in Kandy : GSMB reveals cause

The Geological Survey and Mines Bureau revealed that tremors felt in the Kandy district, were triggered owing to the release of pressure in weak layers of rock.

 

The above was confirmed by the GSMB after conducting an in-depth analysis in realtion to the tremors felt in the area. 

 

The said ananlysis was carried out by a team of six members.

 

The Chairman of the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau, Anura Walpola stated that the  report compiled following the above analysis was received.

 

He stressed that prior permission from the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau is required to  be obtained before conducting any form of excavations in the area.
