Michele moves on with resolution against SL

The UN Human Rights High Commissioner Michele Bachelet is hurriedly mobilizing resources Ito see that the resolution passed against Sri Lanka to be implemented.

 

The high commissioner has urged member states to apply principles of universal or extra-territorial jurisdiction to violations committed in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka may be placed in a difficult situation if member states agree to do so.

 

Michele has recommended exploring possible targeted sanctions and travel bans against   alleged perpetrators of grave human rights violations .Such action may make conducting state affairs for the government of Sri Lanka.

 

Sri Lanka may receive the support of  China and Russia who may veto the proposals made by those who are proposing a tough stand against Sri Lanka.
