Jaffna mayor arrested for promoting LTTE

Mayor of Jaffna Municipal Council, Vishvalingam Manivannan has been accused of attempting promote a new form of LTTE.

 

Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said, Manivannan had provided five individuals who were employees of the municipal council with uniforms similar to that of LTTE ‘police’ to perform duties of the organization.

 

All employees have been recruited on a temporary basis.  

 

A special investigation was launched by Jaffna Police and Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) and now the mayor is in police custody.
