Government deliberately prevents PCR testing - Saman Ratnapriya

The government is deliberately refraining from conducting PCR tests and as a result the number of PCR tests has been reduced by 50%, said the Chairman of the National Trade Union Front Saman Ratnapriya.

The number of patients has also decreased due to the decrease in the number of PCR tests and this is not something to be happy about, he added.

He said the reason for not doing the PCR tests was because the government and health officials could not cope with the congestion in the hospitals and the reduction in the number of patients could be a temporary relief.
