Fresh chicken vanishes off the shelf

Sri Lanka’s price controller’s 430 rupee ceiling price for a kilo of fresh chicken seems to be having an adverse impact on the consumer, retailer and supplier. In most places, fresh chicken has vanished off the shelf and the actual price of a kilo of chicken has jumped to 700 rupees.
Farm owners are complaining that the price of chicken feed has increased. Sri Lanka presently produces only 9,000 mt of chicken per annum while the annual consumption is 12,000 mt
