Easter Sunday probe cost Rs 650 million

The tax payers have had to pocket out Rs 650 million for the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) held for the Easter Sunday bombings. It is widely speculated that nothing much might not come out of the report.

 

The final report of the PCoI, which runs into approximately 100,000 pages, cost around Rs 10 million to print and the report was handed over to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on 1 February.  The report contained nearly 40,000 pages of statements made by witnesses.

 

The cardinal Malcolm Ranjit has accused the government on foot dragging on implementing the findings and vowed to escalate his agitation. Meanwhile, the President assured that he would take all steps to bring culprits to justice.
