Special permit to import Palm oil for bakery goods to be issued

Minister of Trade Bandula Gunawardena said that a special permit procedure will be launched to import Palm oil needed for the production of bakery and confectionery products.

 

He added that the relevant trades will not have an impact by the decision to prohibit the import of Palm oil.

 

Given that anyone wishes to import Palm oil, they can submit an appeal to the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance in relation to the same.

 

Moroever, when  MP Kumara Welgama raised a question, the Minsiter stated  that there will be no barrier to the process of production,  if the products are up to the required standards.
