Foreign multi-day trawler arrested with heroin consignment

Police Media Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa stated that a foreign multi-day trawler was carrying a consignment of heroin into the country when the vessel and nine foreign suspects were arrested last night.

The Navy is bringing a multi-day trawler, a consignment of heroin and suspects to Sri Lankan waters.

The Police Media Spokesman said that the drugs were found during a joint operation conducted by the Navy and the Senior Superintendent of Police in charge of the Batticaloa Division.
