Focus on weather today

The Met Department warns that there could be heavy showers exceeding 50 mm in some places in the Uva, Eastern Provinces and in the Mullaitivu and Vavuniya Districts.

Showers or thundershowers will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North Western provinces and in the Matara, Galle, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts and in other areas after evening.

The Meteorological Department urges the public to take steps to minimize the damage caused by lightning and temporary strong winds.
