Establish police divisions to protect archeological sites - Omalpe Sobhitha Thero

Ven. Omalpe Sobhitha Thera, the Chief Sangha Leader of Southern Sri Lanka, has requested President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to re-establish the Police Division to protect archeological sites.

In 2016, the Good Governance Government disbanded about 40 officers under the supervision of a Senior Superintendent of Police while conducting raids.

During the last year and this year, 302 complaints have been received regarding the destruction of archeological sites and the damage caused to archeological sites.
