Covid - 19 is now in the air

The COVID-19 control has become difficult as now the virus is airborne. As a result, infection becomes rapid and the situation worsens ventilation is poor.
Medical experts locally are continuing to study the existing trend and how fast the virus is spreading and the mutated versions which are presently in the country. According to Dr. Chandima Jeewandara Sri Jayewardenepura University's Immunology and Molecular Medicine Department researchers have observed a severe change in COVID-19 symptoms and a fair number of ICU admissions among young patients.
The Sri Lanka Medical Association (SLMA) today warned the general public of the imminent threat of a third wave of the COVID-19 outbreak over the next three weeks. Dr. Padma Gunaratne, SLMA President, and SLMA Intercollegiate Committee said it was absolutely essential to take all possible precautions to avoid contracting the disease.
State minister Sudarshani Fernando Pulle has issued a statement saying that health guidelines have been revised and asked people to stay at home. The Government and Health Authorities must conduct immediate surveillance to locate COVID infected red zones accurately and must impose travel restrictions and zonal lockdowns without further delay, the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) today warned.
