With the easing of travel restrictions, Upul Rohana , Head of the Public Health Inspectors union has claimed that there could be a tragic situation over the next two weeks due to people's irresponsible behavior.

He further has stated that according to a recent circular published by the Director-General of Health Services on quarantine measures, first contacts of COVID patients who have completed their quarantine term will be required to undertake an Antigen test, which was previously a PCR test.

He has highlighted that therefore the drop in COVID-19 cases that may be seen in the coming weeks does not necessarily indicate a reduction in infections in the country.
