Calls on government to restore control prices for rice

The Sri Lanka Rice Mill Owners' Association has called on the government to re-impose a control price on rice as the price of a kilogram of rice is likely to increase by 25 rupees.

Therefore, there will be another increase in the price of rice in the future.

The current price of a kilo of Nadu rice is Rs. 125, Samba at Rs. 140 and Kiri Samba at Rs. 170 per kilo.

Within four weeks from now, another price hike will take place and the control price will have to be reintroduced to end the rice mafia.
