The increase in fuel prices cannot be stopped without relief from the government - Udaya Gammanpila

Petroleum Minister Udaya Gammanpila has said that the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has no choice but to increase fuel prices if it does not receive any relief from the government and cannot bear the loss.


Minister Gammanpila said that he hopes to hold discussions with the Cabinet regarding the increase in fuel prices.


Meanwhile, the chairman of the Petroleum Corporation, W.W.D. Sumith Wijesinghe said that the Petroleum Corporation is currently losing billions of rupees.


14.56 per liter of petrol. In such a situation, the only option for the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation is to increase fuel prices, said Wijesinghe.
