Arrack diverted by thugs

Anamaduwa Police said that a consignment of arrack brought to the Anamaduwa Sathosa by a private arrack manufacturer yesterday had been diverted by a group of thugs who had come with swords and clubs.

Licenses have been obtained from Anamaduwa Sathosa to sell arrack from July 5 to September 30.

In such a situation, when the first consignment of arrack brought for sale to the sathosa was about to be released to the sathosa, a group of thugs with swords had come and threatened to divert the lorry.
