An agreement between the rice mill owners and the government

Agriculture Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage said the government would sign an agreement with all rice workers within the next two weeks.

The Minister further stated that a fine of Rs. 100,000 has been imposed on traders selling rice at black market prices.

He said the government planned to buy paddy from farmers at a price of between 50 and 52 rupees and that the government would fully control the price of rice in the future.
