AG files a revision application to the Colombo HC against the release of Wasantha Mudalige

 

The Attorney General has filed a revision application before the Colombo High Court requesting the annulment of the order given by the Colombo Chief Magistrate to acquit Wasantha Mudalige, convener of the Inter-University Student Council, of charges under the Prevention of Terrorism Act.

Mudalige was arrested on August 22, 2022 on charges filed under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, and on January 31, after being detained for 162 days under the Prevention of Terrorism Act by Colombo Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis on the grounds that the accused could not be found was acquitted of the charges.
