A new unit to combat petty crime
The Sri Lankan legal system has made provision for the collection of video recordings of abused children as they find it difficult to testify in public and the evidence given by those children is very important to the judicial process.
Accordingly, the Cabinet has approved the establishment of nine video evidence recording units covering nine provinces of the country as per the proposal made by the Minister of Education.
