A floating solar power plant for Sri Lanka

The Ministry of Power and Energy stated that Sri Lanka's first floating solar power plant centered on Diyawanna is planned to be constructed with the assistance of a loan from the Government of India.

Minister of Power and Energy Dullas Alahapperuma said that the daily electricity requirement of the Parliament premises can be met by this 1.5 MW floating solar power plant.

The Minister further said that this construction will be expedited and will set a precedent for the whole country on the concept of floating solar power plants and that preliminary feasibility studies on this construction are currently underway.
