444 inmates across SL receive special Presidential pardon

The Department of Prisons stated that a decision to grant special Presidential pardon to a number of inmates who were sentenced to jail over minor offences has been reached by the goverment.

 

Accordingly. 444 inmates including 18 females have been granted  this special Presidential pardon.

 

The said decision has been reached with the pursuit of minimizing the congestion within prisons, said the Commissioner General of Prisons, Thushara Upuldeniya.
