2020 General Election : Voting concludes

The National Election Commission announced that voting for Sri Lanka's General Election 2020 concluded peacefully,  at 5.00 p.m. today (August 5).

 

The polling process commenced at 7.00 a.m., today.

 

Polling was conducted  at 12,985 polling stations across  Sri Lanka under high security provided by over  5,000 Police and civil defence personnel. 

 

The Chairman of the Election Commission, Mahinda Deshapriya stated that the overall voter turnout across the country for the General Election is over 70 percent, at the close of polls.
