MT New Diamond oil tanker owners agree to settle the full claim for Rs. 340 million

The owners of the MT New Diamond oil tanker have informed the Attorney General. Dappula de Livera that they agree to settle the full claim of Government stakeholders. 

 

The  said crude oil tanker caught fire, 38 nautical miles off Sangamankanda Point. east of Sri Lankan seas on September 3, where the fire was contained jointly by the efforts of  Sri Lanka Navy, Air Force, Coast Guards and other international assistance.

 

As per the estimated cost incurred by Sri Lanka,  Attorney General Dappula de Livera  requested an initial compensation of Rs. 340 million from the owners of the oil tanker last week.
