Veteran actress Hyacinth Wijeratne has passed away.

Police say that veteran actress Hyacinth Wijeratne has died in a car accident last night.

The accident had taken place when the van she was traveling in had fallen into a precipice in the Lidula area on the Talawakele road in Nuwara Eliya while returning to Colombo from Nuwara Eliya to shoot the teledrama.

She was 75 when she died and the driver of the van was arrested in connection with the accident.
