Red alert of heavy rain from the Met. Department

The Meteorological Department said that heavy showers exceeding 150 mm could be expected in the North Western, Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces and in some places in the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya Districts.

 

Heavy showers of up to 100 mm are expected in some parts of the Northern Province and in some parts of the Matale, Galle and Matara districts during the next 24 hours.

 

The general public is urged to take adequate measures to minimize the dangers posed by temporary strong winds and lightning in those areas during thundershowers.
