Let's try Sri Lankan Rulang Aluwa 

 

Ingredients

  • ¼ tsp. ground cloves
  • 500g semolina
  • 850g sugar
  • ½ tsp ground cardamom
  • 50 cashews
  • 1 cup water

Method                   

First, you need to heat the semolina in a pan and once roasted, set it aside to cool. Now, you can prepare a flat dish that can be used as a cutting board on which you need to place some semolina. Place the sugar and water in a saucepan and heat it. When the caramel syrup begins to make a hard layer on the sides of the saucepan, add in the cardamom, cloves and the roasted semolina. You may combine the ingredients well and mix it. Then add the chopped cashew nuts and mix the mixture again. You need to remove the saucepan from heat before it hardens. Now, add the mixture onto the prepared cutting board and flatten it appropriately. Cut into pieces and serve with freshly brewed plain tea.
