An unusual meteor is seen in the Israeli sky

An unusually bright meteor was seen in the Israeli sky, according to Israeli experts (on Saturday afternoon) along with some observers saying that they had heard a loud blast.

 

The Israel Astronomical Association (IAA) said that the meteor was seen for a few seconds in central and northern Israel, at around 5.16 p.m., following a northeasterly trajectory. Several residents of the area witnessed the loud blast.

 

“Such an explosion is explained when we are dealing with a relatively large stone: everything also depends on its composition,” explained the IAA.

 

In the image published by the IAA, a fiery trail is shown in the sky. Such phenomena are relatively rare in Israeli skies.

 

At the moment it is not yet discovered if pieces of the meteor survived its descent through the atmosphere. If they survive, such fragments that touch the ground are called “meteorites.”
