The first torrential rains bring a catastrophe to Somalia

The first torrential rains in the rainy season in Somalia resulted in 23 deaths.
According to the latest balance sheet provided by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) the affected by the floods has been raised to nearly 100,000.
''Three weeks after the early onset of the Gu rains which usually take place between April and June in Somalia, nearly 100,000 people have been affected by torrential rains and floods in many areas'' The agency has further indicated.
While detailing that ''more than a thousand hectares'' of countryside have been flooded, he said that there are six children among the fatalities and 78,000 people reside in Bardhere.
The floods have destroyed almost 9,000 families, 6 health facilities and 200 latrines and four schools.
