Former IP shot dead in Rathgama shooting

A former Inspector of Police was killed and his brother was injured in a shooting incident at Rathgama today, police said.

 

They said that the former IP, a 40-year-old, died after being admitted to hospital.

 

The former IP was reportedly in remand custody for a year and a half for an alleged offense committed during duty and was released on bail a few days ago.

 

He was shot at by unidentified men on a motorcycle near his home while he was returning from the Balapitiya court.

 

The Rathgama Police are conducting further investigations.
