Sangakkara appointed chair of MCC World Cricket Committee

Former Sri Lanka cricketer Kumar Sangakkara has been appointed as the new Chair of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) World Cricket Committee.
Sangakkara, who was already a member of the committee, takes over from former England captain Mike Gatting as Chair of the committee.
The commmittee also includes Kumar Dharmasena, Soourav ganguly, Jhulan Goswami, Heather Knight, Suzie Bates, Clare Connor, Justin Langer, Eoin Morgan, Ramiz Raja, Graeme Smith and Ricky Skerritt.
The committee acts as a complementary body to the International Cricket Council and its member nations, meeting twice a year to discuss the prevalent issues in the sport.
Sangakkara became the first non-British President of the MCC in 2019, holding the position for two years, before handing over the role to the now immediate past president Stephen Fry.
Succeeding Fry as MCC President is broadcaster Mark Nicholas.
Nicholas has previously been on the MCC's committees for cricket, marketing and Laws, Spirit & Ethos as well as the Main committee and was part of the small working party that formed the principle of the Spirit of Cricket.
