The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court issued an order regarding a protest organised today (24) by a group of convenors and members of the Unemployed Graduates' Association.

The court issued the order following a request from the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Welikada Police, based on information that the protest planned to block the main entry road to Parliament from Polduwa Roundabout and along Parliament Road.

The court order specifies that the protestors must not block any roads or cause inconvenience to the public and pedestrians. It also directs that the protest should be conducted peacefully, without violating the parliamentary privileges of public representatives, obstructing public officials on duty, or hindering any individuals.

The court has also ordered that if the protestors cannot accept this responsibility, the relevant agitation should be dispersed by the respondents immediately.

The court has further informed that any violation of this order will result in immediate action by Sri Lanka Police to maintain public order.
