Nursing education: Unions slam Govt. over lowering standards

The All Ceylon Nurses' Union (A.C.N.U.) has accused the Government of aiming to privatize the healthcare sector by lowering the entry qualifications for healthcare professionals. 

 

 

A.C.N.U. General Secretary H.M.S.B. Mediwatta expressed concern over the President's suggestion to recruit individuals from the Arts stream for nursing roles, emphasizing that nursing students require a robust foundation in Science subjects to comprehend biology and anatomy. 

 

 

The A.C.N.U. Contends that nurses trained in state-owned nursing colleges possess high expertise and professionalism, making them globally employable.
