Indian nabbed with Kush worth Rs. 53 Mn at BIA

Sri Lanka Customs this morning arrested an Indian national trying to smuggle in Cannabis variety Kush worth over Rs.53 million from Bangkok, at the Bandaranaike International Airport.
Officers attached to the Customs Narcotics Control Unit arrested the 22-year-old suspect who had arrived from Thailand aboard SriLankan Airlines flight UL 403, which landed at the BIA around 11:00am.
Upon inspection, Customs officers discovered 5,333 grams of Kush cannabis carefully concealed within food packets inside the passenger’s checked luggage.
The seized narcotics has a street value of approximately Rs.53 million.
Authorities confirmed that the Narcotics Control Unit is currently conducting further investigations.
The suspect, along with the seized contraband, will be handed over to the Police Narcotic Bureau for continued legal proceedings.
This arrest marks yet another significant detection by Sri Lanka Customs in its ongoing efforts to combat international drug trafficking through the island nation.
