Daily progress reviews will be held during Sacred Tooth Relic exposition

A progress review of the 'Sri Dalada Dekma' will be held every morning during the exposition of the Sacred Tooth Relic, which is set to begin today at the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy, Kandy District Secretary Indika Udawatte said.

He expressed these views while addressing the media at the Kandy District Secretariat.

The final discussion before the 'Sri Dalada Dekma' was held at Ulpange in Kandy. All organisational activities for the public exposition scheduled to begin in the next few hours, have now been completed.

He also stated that this programme is being organised with the participation of several institutions, including the Sri Dalada Maligawa, the Central Provincial Council, Kandy District Secretariat, Kandy Municipal Council, Sri Lanka Police, the Tri-Services, the National Water Supply and Drainage Board, the Ceylon Electricity Board and Road Development Authority.

He said all necessary facilities have been arranged for devotees visiting Kandy, and sanitation systems have been put in place. He also mentioned that seven health centers and several phone charging stations have been set up for the convenience of the devotees.

Additionally, he said that Keppetipola College and Vivekananda College in Kandy have been designated as resting places for devotees, with these rest centers being operated under the supervision of the Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Air Force personnel.

He added that the luggage of devotees coming for the exposition will not be allowed inside the Sri Dalada Maligawa. However, these items can be handed over to centers established by the Sri Lanka Army and the Civil Defence Force.

He also requested that devotees refrain from bringing valuable items.

Furthermore, he urged devotees not to discard waste in the city, including around the tank, emphasising the importance of keeping the world-famous city of Kandy clean.

He concluded by saying that a special operations room is operational for the safety of devotees and coordination of other activities, and that necessary services can be accessed through the following telephone numbers: 081-3146800 and 081-3146900.
