Shooting at Manampitiya Christ Church, suspect arrested

The suspect who opened fire at the 'Living Christ Church' at Ayurveda Place, Manampitiya and fled has been arrested by the police.
The incident occurred around 7 p.m. day before yesterday (18).
The arrest was made during an investigation conducted based on a tip-off received by the Manampitiya Police Station.
Police have also seized a locally-made firearm used in the shooting.
The suspect has been identified as a 38-year-old resident of Main Road, Manampitiya.
No deaths or injuries were reported in the incident, but a window of the church was damaged.
According to reports, the suspect approached the gate of the church, appeared to inspect the area, then returned to the road and fired the shot before fleeing.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the shooting was the result of a personal dispute with the pastor of the church.
Manampitiya Police are conducting further investigations.
