Police to screen rejoining officers for drug use

The Acting Inspector General of Police has directed all senior officers and police OICs to ensure that any personnel seeking reinstatement after suspension or leaving the force undergo a mandatory drug testing.

 

Those wishing to rejoin the police force are required to submit themselves to a drug test at the police hospital before being reinstated to active duty. 

 

The Acting IGP further emphasised that any officer found to have used drugs, based on their medical report, will not be allowed to return to active service.

 

Last week, police said they have terminated the services of 17 officers in the past four months for consuming illegal drugs, including heroin and synthetic substances like ICE.
