UNHCR resolution draft not in Sri Lanka's favour

Despite the hard battle of Foreign Minister  Dinesh Gunawardana Sri lanka may face a difficult situation when the final resolution will be taken up for vote  on  March 22 or the next day.

 

Already the United Kingdom with the core group Canada, Germany, Malawi, North Macedonia and Montenegro  have handed over the handed in the final resolution after a number of consultations.

 

The government of Sri Lanka wants to end to the deliberations that have been dragging on for years while  UN Human Rights High Commissioner Michele Batchelet.is calling for further action.

 

According to the Sunday Times within the 1,730-word final resolution of four pages, none of the changes offered by Sri Lanka has been accepted during the informal consultations.
