The first quarter of the year reports 564 of casualties caused by 534 accidents!

According to police reports, 534 fatal road accidents have caused 564 casualties across the country from January 01 to April 09 this year.

 

The Police spokesman, SSP Nihal Thalduwa said that both minor and serious accidents have been reported this year and the numbers are 2,446 and 1,345 respectively. According to him, each year 2,500 to 3,000 fatal accidents are reported and more than 90 percent of them are reported due to reckless driving.

 

This year, the accidents caused by road engineering faults, inclement weather and technical faults of vehicles were relatively less in number in comparison to the last two years.

 

Further, he affirms that the majority of accidents can be prevented by maintaining high-speed driving and avoiding exposure to alcohol influence and adhering to traffic rules.
