Three businesswomen nabbed with Kush at BIA

Three businesswomen were arrested this morning at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) while attempting to smuggle in a stock of ‘Kush’ valued at over Rs. 629 million.
The narcotics officers attached to the airport recovered the illegal drug haul during a final checkpoint inspection.
The suspects, aged 25, 48 and 50, are residents of Colombo, Wellampitiya and Maligawatta, respectively.
They were found in possession of 5 kilograms and 248 grams of Kush, concealed in four pieces of luggage. The women had arrived from Bangalore, India.
Investigations revealed that the Kush stock had been purchased in Thailand, smuggled into Bangalore and then brought to Sri Lanka.
The suspects arrived at the Katunayake Airport on Indigo Airlines flight 6E-1183 at 12:00 a.m. yesterday.
The arrested women and the seized Kush stock are scheduled to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate yesterday.
