3,820 tons of urea fertilizers for smallholder paddy farmers

A shipment of 3,820 tons of urea procured by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) was handed over to the Ministry of Agriculture on Monday (10), for distribution among smallholder paddy farmers and paddy seed farmers in Sri Lanka.
The smallholder paddy farmers who are highly affected by the recent economic crisis are expected to get this shipment of urea.
Over 72,200 farmers in Polonnaruwa, Badulla, Ampara, Matale, Puttalam, Kurunegala and Hambantota districts will be aided with this program launched by FAO and the EU to address the agriculture and food security crisis in Sri Lanka.
The program also includes the introductory part of the integrated plant nutrient management strategy.
