Welikada Prison off limits for visitors until further notice

The Department of Prisons has confirmed that the Welikada Prison premises  in Colombo  has been closed off for visitors until further notice.

 

The above decision was reached after an inmate transfferd to the Welikada Prison from the Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre – East, tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday (July 7) morning. 

 

The other inmates and the prison officers have been subjected to the PCR tests and the quarantine procedure.
