Ban imposed on Vehicle imports to be extended for the next two years - Vehicle Importers Association

The Vehicle Importers Association of Sri Lanka announced that the ban imposed on Vehicle imports is likely to be extended for the next two years.
President of the Association Sampath Merenchige stated that it is almost six months since the ban on imports was temporarily imposed in April owing to the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
He also added that the number of imported vehicles that are available in Sri Lanka at present showcase a gradual drop and consequently are being sold at higher prices.
He also added that about 40% of the vehicle importers have become bankrupt owing to the present situation.
The general public is urged not to purchase vehicles for an excessivly high prices.
