Boossa prison inmates including Kanjipani Imran, Podi Lasi and Wele Suda call off hunger strike

The 45 inmates, including the notorious figures Kanjipani Imran, Podi Lasi and Wele Suda who commenced a hunger strike at the Boossa prison in Galle, called off their strike action today (September 14). 

 

Around 40 inmates commenced the hunger strike against  the restriction on visitors, removal of telephone facilities, search operations carried out on the inmates when they were brought to the Prison after being produced in the courts, and demanding to increase the weekly amount that they can pay to purchase additional meals, on September 10.
