US Embassy official refuses to undergo PCR testing at BIA but allowed to enter Sri Lanka

A senior diplomat of the US Embassy in Colombo had refused to undergo PCR testing at the Bandaranaike International Airport upon arrival, owing to his diplomatic privileges.

 

The US national had arrived from Qatar  at 01:30 this morning.

 

 A US Embassy Spokesperson stated “The arrival of US diplomatic staff to Sri Lanka also complies with the norms and procedures outlined in the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, just as it applies to arrival of Sri Lankan and other diplomatic staff to the United States”.
