Three illegals held in quarantine

A 34-year-old woman and her two children that slipped into the country through an illegal sea crossing have been placed in quarantine. The mother and her two children to a safe house at Weppamaduwa in Puttalam following a tip-off.

 

They have been placed in quarantine in the same house. Initial investigations have revealed that they were smuggled into the country on a fishing vessel from the South Indian state of Chennai.

 

The authorities have repeatedly warned Sri Lankan fishermen against maintaining contacts with the Indian counterparts owing the COVID-19 pandemic that is causing havoc in that country.
