The loss to the fishing industry caused by the fire at X-press Pearl to be compensated with Rs. 720 million

According to Minister of Justice Ali Sabri, Express Pearl's insurance company has agreed to pay Rs. 720 million in compensation for the loss to the fishing business caused by the fire. This amount will be received as interim compensation until the complete amount owing is paid, according to the Minister.

The overall cost of the damage inflicted by the shipwreck has yet to be determined. A team of foreign experts has recently arrived on the island to survey the damage, as has an Indian Navy ship to assess the sea damage. This combined survey is being carried out by NARA, the Sri Lankan Navy, and the Indian Navy, according to reports.
