Sri Lanka Army denies opening fire towards protesters

The Sri Lanka Army says it has drawn attention to several videos that are circulating, claiming that troops deliberately fired at protesters who tried to force their way into the Presidential Palace compound in Colombo Fort on Saturday (9).

The army strongly denied that it fired at the protesters, but said that they fired into the air and at the side walls of the main gate of the presidential palace to prevent the protesters from entering the premises.
