Sputnik V first dose provides enough protection

As per the latest clinical data revealed by Russia, the Sputnik V first dose is considered to provide enough protection as it has 70-80 percent of efficacy level after the first jab. 

 

Although the vaccine  has been developed to be given in two jabs, 28 days apart, according to the latest studies, it is said that second dose can be delayed up to 90 days now.

 

The National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) and Russia's Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology has have held  Zoom discussion to further clarification regarding this matter.

 

However, NMRA Chairman Dr.Rasitha Wijewanta has mentioned to the media that they have to further study such data before making any conclusion.

 

Anyhow, according to the commercial deal made with Russia for purchasing the above mentioned vaccine, already 65000 doses have been arrived to the island by now.
