Speaker conveys SC’s determination on constitutional amendments proposed by SJB

The Supreme Court has ruled that certain sections of the amendments proposed by the Samagi Jana Balawewa to the 21st Amendment to the Constitution require a referendum and must be passed by a special majority in Parliament.

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena yesterday (June 21) announced the decision of the Supreme Court on the petition against the constitutional amendments proposed by the SJB during the Parliamentary sessions.
